About the valley

In the region of “Ano Kalamona” you will find the picturesque “Valley of Butterflies” with its singular beauty. This amazing site draws hundreds of tourists every summer and it is just 10 kilometers distance from “Diagoras Airport”.

The part of the valley that draws the most interest is 1000 meters in length. It begins at the “Museum of Natural History of Rhodes” to St’ Mary’ s Monastery of Kalopetra which was built in 1879 by Alexander Epsilantis.

The Panaxia Quadripunctaria

The valley is the resting place for thousands of the rare genus “Panaxia quadripunctaria” butterfly which can be seen on the trunks of trees and even on the rocks from June to September. This area is ideal for the butterflies owing to the fact that many different species of trees can be found there, such as pine trees, plane trees and bulrush trees.

The freely flowing waters that you will find, when visiting the “Valley of Butterflies” are the best resemblance of Paradise. The serene atmosphere and the peace of the valley are vital for the survival of these butterflies because it offers them a place to conserve energy before embarking on the next stop of their migration.

The paths that run through the valley along with its waterfalls, brooks, ponds and wooden bridges are the perfect setting for a relaxing stroll on a summer’ s day and something one should not pass up, when visiting Rhodes.

Yes! Farma of Rhodes is a safe place for you your friends and your family because:

It is in open space in the country, and the trees operate as natural air ionisers.

Because of its large area it is the perfect place to be. The usual distance between visitors is about 4-5 meters, so there is no way the place will be crowded.

Farma of Rhodes has taken all the required precautionary measures in terms of sanitary equipment including hand sanitizers in several spots in the Farma. If though, you belong to a high-risk group or want even more protection, Farma of Rhodes provides you with single-use gloves for free.

Yes, there is a ramp for access to the restaurant, as well as wheelchair-friendly WC.

Farma of Rhodes is a petting zoo where visitors can interact, feed and play with the animals.

Animals are friendly and very calm near people. Always respect their personal space and follow the rules.

Tickets are available online on our website, at the entrance of the farm and through our tour operator partners.

Yes there is a discount for children under 12 year old and free entrance for infants under 3 years old.

You can simply book your tickets by pressing the Online Tickets button on the upper right corner of the page. After booking your tickets online you will receive an email with your ticket number. Online booking comes with a discount and extra benefits such as choosing your desired visiting time, avoid the waiting line and save time.

Important: Keep your ticket number available for your entrance to the farm.

There are automated water tanks that constantly provide fresh water.

Animals are fed every morning from 08.00- 09.00 and every afternoon from 15.00- 16.00. Visitor feedings do not replace their food, but it’s more like a treat that the animals love.

They stay in the farm as temperatures in Rhodes rarely fall below 10 degrees Celcius.

Please do not feed the animals with your own food, as there are important health risks. Ask for animal food treats at the reception, to feed them safely.
